I’ve been wrapping books in pretty paper and tying them with black lace, which is a very polite way to present the things happening inside them. The package looks like somebody should make a cup of tea and settle in. Depending on the book, settling in may be a mistake.
Blind Date With an Unsettled Book is now on my website. Every mystery title comes from my own books, so you’re letting the person who wrote them choose which one you meet first.
You choose the mood: psychological, supernatural, thriller, or surprise me. Tell me which of my books you already own or have read, and I’ll use that information when choosing your title. The book stays a surprise until the reveal.
There are different ways to do the date, depending on whether you want something to read on your device or an actual package to open. The ebook option is delivered digitally. The Ebook Care Box gives you a physical reader package with a QR ebook reveal, so you still get the unwrapping part.
For paperback readers, there’s a wrapped signed mystery book with a few bookish extras. The Deluxe Blind Date includes a signed paperback and a fuller reader box. Some of the small extras rotate, so check the package descriptions when choosing yours rather than expecting every box to look exactly like the photographs.
I like the combination of an unsettling story and a package somebody took time putting together. There’s room for a little care in how a horror book arrives, even if I was considerably less considerate toward the people inside it.
